n an official note from the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the launch of a call for creators, art instructors and promoters was announced, to commemorate the date of February 24th in the networks and public spaces in front of cultural institutions to sing love songs to the Homeland.

It will be in support of the great patriotic anniversary to pay tribute to those who launched themselves in 1895 to the redemptive forest to the cry of Viva Cuba Libre.

With the physical distancing and the essential sanitary measures due to Covid-19, the teacher Digna Guerra, Hero of Labor and director of the National Choir, has summoned the choral movement.

The note indicates that other musicians, singer-songwriters, visual artists, poets and repentistas, and scholars of the Apostle’s work have joined the call for the fatherland date to become a commemoration of culture, poetry and the arts, showing to the world the respect of the Cubans who, guided by José Martí, Máximo Gómez and Antonio Maceo, charged with the machete shouting Independence or Death.
«We summon professional and amateur artists, art students, art instructors and promoters, and all of us who defend Culture as the Sword and Shield of the Nation to, from their homes and balconies, accompany these actions on the networks, in The media and as much space as possible throughout February 24th, and particularly at 9 pm, sing with your neighbors the glorious verses of our Bayamo Hymn, That dying for the Homeland is Living . » The document published on the site www.ministeriodecultura.gob.cu
