The workers of the sugar industry in western Cuban territory are immersed in the 2020-2021 harvest, an industrial process of utmost importance due to the inflow of foreign currency it generates to the country. According to Orlando Vandrell, deputy director of the Matanzas Sugar Company, the so-called small harvest was not fulfilled, but the order of the basic family basket of the province and the capital of Cuba was delivered.
The arrears, the manager specified, must be recovered in January with the incorporation into the contest of the Mexico mill, located in the municipality of Colón. Likewise, the sector lives intense days, since the application of the ordering task is added to the manufacture of honeys.
In this sense, Julio Andrés García Pérez, president of Azcuba, explained in the television program Mesa Redonda: “It is an opportunity, but also a challenge for the producers and for the system that serves them. Productivity, a sense of belonging and economic efficiency must be increased.
In our case, we have identified it in three topics: agricultural yield, producers’ ability to pay in advance and the use of piecework, elements that have been indicated and are in the process of resolution ”. The objective is to seek economic efficiency, agricultural performance, efficient use of the workforce and correct management of the cost card.
