The cultural gala for the 98th anniversary of the foundation of the FEU University Student Federation chose as the setting the La Libertad Park, an emblematic square in the city of Yumurina, where students gathered to sing to the country, to love and to peace. The young people from the Amateur Artists Movement from the Matanzas and Medical Sciences universities performed, among which were the group Esencia cubana, the duo of dancers Laura and Yan and interpreters of various musical genres.
Present at the event, Lázaro Yeiker Marrero, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Young Communists League in the province; the rector of the University of Matanzas, Leyda Finalé de la Cruz, deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power, among other leaders.
The presidents of the FEU in the House of Higher General Studies and in Medical Sciences, Mauren Duaso and Sheila Falcón, respectively, received special recognition from the UJC for the work carried out by the students in the tasks of the Revolution, with emphasis on their excellent supportive behavior in the isolation centers for protection against COVID-19, organized by these institutions.
In addition, 12 outstanding young people in this revolutionary mission were congratulated. The University Student Federation was founded by the student leader Julio Antonio Mella on December 20th , 1922 and is the oldest organization in the country.
In the cultural gala, the Matanzas university students gathered in tribute to the 98th anniversary of the FEU, reaffirmed their social vocation and their willingness to fulfill the tasks of economic and scientific impact that the country needs, with active participation from the study in the development of our society.
