The Desembarco del Granma primary school, in the city of Matanzas, hosted the municipal act of closing the school year 2018/2019, a recognition of the active work of students, teachers, family and community in the achievement of a beautiful institution and with remarkable results in the teaching and educational fields.
About the main challenges of this lective stage, already officially completed, says the Director of Education in the municipality of Matanzas, María de los Ángeles Retureta Pérez:
«We concluded a school year of great challenges for teachers, because we were immersed in decisive processes for the territory and the country, among them the Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (ERCE) which was applied in three of our schools, but demanded the preparation and the management of any specialist who could contribute their knowledge. The educational improvement was also advanced in seven Yumurian groups of each level of education, a major challenge because it involved experimentation with new study programs and also the transformation of the ways of imparting the content, that is, the methodology. It was complex to put into practice a theory still under construction, but these educators succeeded and even enriched the plans with observations and suggestions.
«Regarding the indicators that measure the quality of the instruction, it is appropriate to express that the results of the ordinary examinations at the different levels exceeded those of the previous period. The parameter of the promotion can even improve with the revaluations and the extraordinary calls that are developed in this stage. Regarding preventive work, for example, several students with serious family problems were reintegrated into school. There are still several, but they are the object of our sustained attention in order to avoid their involvement in criminal acts and achieve their definitive insertion in educational centers. »
As part of the activity, several pedagogues were awarded with the José Tey Medal and the Distinction for Cuban Education. Likewise, recognition was given to those who devoted 45 years or more in an uninterrupted manner to the altruistic work of teaching. Professor Lucía Piñera, of the Enrique Hart Pre-University Institute, was one of the honored guests:
«I am very excited not only for these awards, but for seeing students from so many generations that I educated linked to the sector. For many years I worked as a teacher educator at the Pedagogical Headquarters Juan Marinello, of the University of Matanzas and there I had the opportunity to meet many young people, I am satisfied to see that they continue to be educated: they are indispensable as continuators of the work we build. For me it is a very big honor because I love the profession. I’m retired, but I rejoined because I do not conceive outside a classroom, it’s what makes me happier. »
At the meeting, spiced up with the presentation of the community project Maravillas de la Infancia, the first secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in Matanzas, Yosvany Verdeal, among other representatives of the political and mass organizations of the territory attended.
