Due to the overall results of its student delegation, the Pre-university Vocational Institute of Exact Sciences (IPVCE) Vladimir I. Lenin obtained the first place in the IV National Inter-IPVCE Knowledge Cup based in the analogous educational institution of the province of Matanzas.
Havana, for the third time the best in that competition, stood out in the individual tests in which they deserved at least one of the recognitions that are awarded by subjects in each grade. In this modality, Mathematics was strength, followed by Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
IPVCE Vladimir I. Lenin , in addition, won the first places in the competitions by levels where the tenth and twelfth graders were imposed on their counterparts of the 15 remaining groups.
Likewise, Havana residents Jabel Resendiz and Víctor M. Michel González were distinguished with the Grand Prize in Mathematics and Physics, respectively.
However, the director of the National Training Center, Msc. María Elena Albisus Torres highlighted the performance of the IPVCE Máximo Gómez, from Camagüey and Federico Engels, from Pinar del Río who were in the second and third positions.
She also recognized the efforts of the representatives of the Isle of Youth, Las Tunas, which shows a brilliant career in the event, and Matanzas maintains its supremacy in chemistry thanks to Jonathan González García who was crowned in almost all evaluation categories.
«The leadership of Havana will not be eternal, because we are already witnessing a new stage in which not only the talent of the students from other territories stands out, but also new preparation strategies implemented by coaches and teachers.
«We believe that this edition of the Cup was successful, including other specialties such as Geography and English, which will be part of the national competitions, and we were surprised by the good results.
«We thank Matanzas for its reception and, especially, the support of Education officials, the Party, the Government and the companies of the territory to guarantee the necessary conditions,» she added.
At the award ceremony, held at the Velasco cinema in Matanzas city, the winners of the Abel Santa María Cup, sponsored by the Marta Abreu University of Villa Clara through the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Computers, Doctor of Sciences Yanet Rodríguez.
Rodríguez expressed interest in extending this event to the rest of the country and promoting the participation of high school students and, especially, those from vocational centers as a way to promote access to higher education in prioritized profiles such as exact science.
With the exhortation to the fifth National Knowledge Cup that will take place in the province of Holguín, the meeting ended where Cuban education finally won, guaranteeing the training of future scientists.
